John Mese was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received an MFA in acting from LSU under the tutelage of John Dennis. He has lived in Los Angeles or New York as a working actor for the past 24 years. As an actor he's been in over 90 films and television shows including Weeds, Schizopolis, Law&Order, The X-Files, Monk, American Gothic, Northern Exposure, and the HBO miniseries, From the Earth to the Moon, to name just a few. John received “The Young Alumnus of the Year Award” from LSU in 2000 and has since gone on to write/produce/direct several shorts…and the mini-feature, Perfect Day (2007) which was screened at the New Orleans’ Film Festival and starred Eddie Jemison. As a writer John has completed over twenty shorts, pilots and full-length scripts, one of which placed in the TOP 50 out of over 6000 entries in Project Greenlight. John recently produced, starred in, and was the first assistant director on "King of Herrings" a film by Eddie Jemison and Sean Richardson. John and his wife Dawn Kelsey are the co-authors of the Flippy and Friends children's book series, which launched nationwide in 2009...and they are the proud new parents of Kelsey Rae Mese who was born in the fall of 2010.
